K-Pop News Weekly Top 3: YG Entertainment Launches Actor Project, Super Junior Member Leaves SM Entertainment, Big Bang Postpone Comeback

This past week saw big news from two of K-pop's most popular entertainment agencies.

YG Entertainment Launches New Promotional Platform For Actors

After making a name for themselves in the music world, one of South Korea's biggest agencies opened up a new Stage in their development last week. YG Stage, a new subsidary of YG Entertainment, will promote the entertainment powerhouse's actors and actresses.

YG Stage boasts over twenty major actors and actress amongst its line-up, including several of K-pop's most popular idols such as 2NE1's Dara and Big Bang's T.O.P.

Big Bang Postpones "MADE" Album

After kicking off promotions for a new album project on May 1, K-pop group Big Bang has released two singles each month since then. This past week YG Entertainment, the idol group's label, announced that Big Bang will postpone the release of the complete album. Due to the ongoing promotions for the project, Big Bang will take time to rest before releasing the finale of the "MADE" project.

Kim Kibum Leaves SM Entertainment

After debuting as a member of Super Junior in 2005 and then going on-hiatus in 2009, Kim has been under SM Entertainment but not promoting as a member of the K-pop group. Kim has pursued several acting projects, but has been in general missing in action.

This past week, SM Entertainment and Kim revealed that Kim's contract had expired and that the two would be pursuing different paths as Kim starts a new life.
