One Direction Heading For Solo Careers, Zayn Malik Set To Return When They Reunite After A Year?

Directioners are going gaga over reports that One Direction will be temporarily parting next year to pursue solo careers for a while. Some are hoping though that when they reunite, Zayn Malik would be coming back as well.

As reported and confirmed by E! Online, the group's hiatus was only temporary.

"They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up," the entertainment channel's source clarified. "They will remain together and plan to work together in the future."

Although heading for different directions by April 2016, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson will continue to support each other.

The move was already reportedly set even before Malik left the group.

"This was the plan with or without Zayn" an insider told The Sun as quoted by Variety. "Of course they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn't left."

"There is a lot of demand for Harry Styles to be a big solo artist and launch a Hollywood acting career, and there is a lot of speculation that Louis Tomlinson will join the 'X Factor' judging panel next year," the insider added. "Liam Payne and Niall Noran are interesting in pursuing their song writing careers."

One Direction's camp has yet to directly address the reports about the group pursuing solo careers. None of its members and even former Zayn Malik have spoken up on social media as well.

Mixed reactions flooded social media on Sunday when the reports surfaced. While some were devastated with the hiatus, others seemed to have been celebrating the group's parting as told on ABC Australia.

The hiatus news came just five months after Malik left the group to pursue his own career as well. Fans though have yet to give up on a possible reunion for the whole group. As the British boyband's latest music video "Drag Me Down" dropped earlier today, a fan theory surfaced that the group may have intentionally left a spot in the video for Malik.

In a report on SugarScape, screenshots from the video were shared on social media and fans think the space was meant for Malik.

In June, fans got into frenzy as well when "Zayn Malik is coming back" became a trending topic. He did not address the rumor though and now just months after leaving, his other former bandmates from One Direction are heading for solo careers as well.
