The Wonder Girls Reminisce About Their American Debut In The Star

The Wonder Girls had a natural and relaxed pictorial in the September issue of The Star. In the pictures, the idols modeled suede boots, sheer tops and lace blouses by affordable brands like H&M. Their set was an old apartment filled with rusty kitchenware and worn floors.

During the interview, Yenny (Park Yeeun) reminisced about the group's American promotions. In 2009, the girls became an opening act for the Jonas Brothers' world tour and released the English single "Nobody."

When asked by the interviewer if she believed the band's international promotions were a failure, she asserted that she didn't. "Many people say that, so maybe we did," she explained. "But we are pleased because we see it as having made a step forward."

"As we made our rounds from the United States to over fifty other countries, we raised awareness about Korea, like continually throwing stones at a wall until it finally collapses," she added. "Now, lots of Korean artists go into the American market. I feel like we sort of paved that road for them."

The star also shared her songwriting process. "I use a lot of English in my lyrics," she revealed. "I think, because the music I like is from America, the melodies I like often also go better with English lyrics. So I end up having to change English lyrics into Korean a lot."

In other fashion news, the Wonder Girls presented Estée Lauder's newest lipstick collection in the August issue of Grazia.
