Super Junior's Siwon And TVXQ's Changmin To Enter Military As Conscripted Police Officers On Same Day

K-Pop fans, prepare your farewells.

November is still two months off, but the countdown to the enlistment of two popular K-pop stars began on September 2 when it was revealed that Super Junior's Choi Siwon and TVXQ's Shim "Max" Changmin will enlist in the Korean military on November 19.

The pair will fulfill their mandatory military duties as conscripted policemen, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

Choi and Shim are both signed to SM Entertainment and are two of the most iconic Korean celebrities. Both men debuted as K-pop idols under the agency, and later made names for themselves as actors.

Shim will take some time off after the end of his series "The Scholar Who Walks the Night" finishes airing, reports the K-Pop Herald.

Choi will also finish up promotional activities as a Super Junior member and his drama "She Was Pretty" prior to enlisting.

The pair are expected to be discharged on Aug. 18, 2017.

Both Choi and Shim join members of their respective groups in the Korean armed services. Super Junior's Shindong (Shin Dong Hee) and Lee Sungmin entered the military in March, while TVXQ's other member, Jung "U-Know" Yunho, enlisted in July.

Super Junior's Eunhyuk (Lee Hyuk Jae) and Lee Donghae are also expected to enlist this year. The pair and Choi discussed their impending enlistments at a recent concert in Japan.

All able-bodied South Korean men have to serve a period of nearly two years in the Korean armed forces due to tensions on the Korean Peninsula and South Korea's relationship with North Korea.
