Red Velvet Confirm Comeback Album 'The Red' While Label Mates f(x) Prepare New Album Release [UPDATE]

If you're seeing red, you're probably looking at Red Velvet's Instagram account.

On September 3, the official Instagram account for K-pop girl group Red Velvet changed its name to "The Red" and replaced all previously uploaded pictures of red squares. Similar pictures were uploaded to Red Velvet's Facebook page, hinting to a comeback from the girl group.

In August, it was reported by Korean media outlets that Red Velvet would likely make a comeback in September.

The red images say nothing about a potential comeback or any other reason for the pictures other than "#TheRed," potentially the name of the album or title track.

Fans commented on Instagram and Facebook with the expectation of a comeback.

SM Entertainment has not released any formal statements relating to a potential comeback from Red Velvet. The company confirmed that Red Velvet's senior girl group f(x) was in the midst of comeback preparations.

Red Velvet's last comeback was in March, when they released the album "Ice Cream Cake" and two singles, "Automatic" and, the widely popular, "Ice Cream Cake."

The quintet debuted as a four-member act in 2014, and are produced by SM Entertainment. A fifth member, Yeri, was added to the group ahead of their March comeback.

Red Velvet's concepts relate to their name, with "red" symbolizing boldness and colorful and "velvet" reflecting their feminine and sensual side.

Update: Red Velvet's Instagram officially confirmed Red Velvet's first album, "The Red." It will feature 11 songs.
