Robert Pattinson News: 'Twilight' Actor Enjoys Smaller Roles And Anonymity

Robert Pattinson is always on the entertainment news and gossip rags. Yet, the "Twilight" actor has admitted in a recent interview that he's still not used to his fame and enjoyed having some sort of anonymity when he's travelling in other countries.

As reported by Gossip Cop, the actor said it's hard to escape photographers and fans in Los Angeles. But he said, he still gets some solitude when he's in London and other countries.

"I live between Los Angeles and London," he told Elle France as quoted by the source above. "But being in London is a pure delight. They leave me alone. It's the same everywhere in Europe. The other day I was strolling around Paris, and nobody bothered me!"

As such, following a big movie franchise, Robert Pattinson was not it the news as much and has been taking on less high-profile roles -- a move that he thinks is a show of respect for his fans.

"I hope to awake their curiosity and show them a different vision of cinema," he explained about taking on smaller roles. "Don't forget that they grow up, too. And they don't want to see all their lives Robert Pattinson playing a vampire. We tend to devalue the fans. It's a mistake. The fan is an audience member like the others."

Pattinson has admitted in the past how he struggled with fame. In an interview with Premiere back in 2012, he admitted falling hard because of the attention and only recovered when he started working on "Cosmopolis" after "Twilight."

"I went through a big time of depression between 23 and 25, I couldn't go where I wanted to go," he said as quoted by Mail Online. "I was in the tabloids every day and I didn't have access to the roles I really wanted. I wanted more, on every level."

"I finally realized that you needed to earn this change I so desperately wanted," he added. "That one way or another, you had to suffer to be able to make it."

Robert Pattinson's new movie, "The Childhood of a Leader," will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on Saturday. He might even bump into ex-girlfriend and former "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart, who was also attending the event, according to entertainment news reports.
