Report Fully Clears Amanda Knox Of Murder Case; Prosecutor To Blame For Her Ordeal?

Italy's Court of Cassation has fully cleared Amanda Knox of any culpability in the murder case of Meredith Kercher in 2007 as it scolded overeager prosecutors into sending a possibly innocent person to jail.

The top court released the written explanation for its ruling in March to affirm the acquittal of Meredith Kercher and former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito for the killing of her roommate Meredith Kercher in their Perugia flat.

The five-judge panel also scored prosecutors for rushing the high-profile trial as their case was filled with a "stunning weakness," while police investigators had "investigative bouts of amnesia."

At the center of the case was the fact that there's absolutely no trace of Amanda Knox or Raffaele Sollecito at the Perugia flat the night Amanda Kercher was murdered. That means, they should have been excluded from the case in the first place and shouldn't have spent a day in prison.

The explanation said, "There was no shortage of glaring errors in the underlying fabric of the sentence in question."

Meanwhile, Meredith Kercher issued a statement thanking the high court for her acquittal.

"I am deeply grateful that the Italian Supreme Court has filed its opinion and forcefully declared my innocence. This has been a long struggle for me, my family, my friends, and my supporters. While I am glad it is now over, I will remain forever grateful to the many individuals who gave their time and talents to help me," the statement read.

However, Amanda Knox and Raffale Sollecito were not out of the woods just yet as prosecutors filed a case against them for slander.

Amanda Knox has implicated Congolese bar owner, Partick Lumumba, to the murder of Meredith Kercher and he spent two weeks in jail.

Lumumba told The Observer, "This is not good for justice, I think it shows the power available for rich people, she's American and rich. For a country like Italy this is not good. I think there were diplomatic problems with the US and it makes things difficult with the US so they let her free."
