'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Update: Mr. Robot Creator Sam Esmail Can Envision Series Running 'Five Years'; How Many Times Will We See Whiterose Blow Things Up?

'Mr. Robot' season 2 plot news: Creator Sam Esmail says he can see USA Network's TV series "Mr. Robot" running five years. Since the season 1 finale, so can "Mr. Robot" fans. So many questions have been left unanswered, like what's White Rose have to do with the Evil Corp. and what Elliot will do with fsociety? Or how many times are we going to see Whiterose blow things up?

There are sites that are calling "Mr. Robot'" The Best New Show On TV, going as far as to say it blurs the lines between television and big screen motion pictures. Mr. Robot season 2 will reportedly premiere on the USA Network by the middle of next year. It is expected to keep its time slot. "Mr. Robot" had been averaging 2.8 million total viewers in Nielsen's "most current" estimates.

The 'Mr. Robot' Creator told Variety that he was  "100 percent surprised" that USA network gave him the freedom to make "Mr. Robot," which ended season 1 on Wednesday.

"I've always said that the first season was the first act of my feature, so this is what I meant," Esmail told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I wanted the story of Mr. Robot to be Elliot actually accomplishing his goal, setting the world into chaos. What would happen to society if something like this occurred where, basically, if the consumer debt industry were to be erased? What are the economics of that? What would the world look like? Would there be a revolution? Would governments take over? Would businesses take over? To me, that canvas was something I was interested in exploring so, for me, that's what that last scene sets up. We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season."

"I initially thought of this as a feature, so I knew how it was all going to unfold," Esmail told Variety

"I don't know every detail, I don't pretend to, but I certainly know the big plot points ahead, and also know the series ending, if we're lucky enough to get that far.

"I'm definitely thinking it's either four or five seasons."

Esmail said the 'Mr. Robot' season finale will bring on new challenges for the hacker Elliot (Rami Malek). He is trying to damage "Evil Corp" but is going up against the two villains played by  Michael Cristofer and BD Wong.

"The biggest thing is we saw that FSociety did accomplish their goal, they were able to take down 'Evil Corp' and take down their data. The coda said there are forces above that. ... And the reveal that White Rose [Wong's character], who we thought was a friend, may be a foe," he added.

"Mr. Robot" tells the story of computer hacker Elliot (Rami Malek), who gets involved with ag group of hackers led by Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) who want to bring down tech company E Corp.

"Mr. Robot" episode 8 revealed that Mr. Robot is Elliot Alderson's father. Viewers learned that Mr. Robot and Elliot are actually one person in Mr. Robot Episode 9. Forbes wrote that Mr. Robot is in reality, dead and that everything was happening in Elliot's imagination. Viewers also learned that FSociety, the hacking group, is the brainchild of Elliot and Darlene.

"Honestly, the thing about how I wanted to end this season was that I wanted to set up the larger story of Elliot's journey,"  Sam Esmail, Mr. Robot creator, said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"So that's where we're ending. A lot of things happen in these episodes that are going to give people who are following the show a lot to process and a lot to rethink and a lot to figure out. I think what I wanted ultimately was the experience coming into season 2 to be, "Okay, now I've got everything." In the feature-screenwriting world, this [season 1] was the Act 1. This is our setup, essentially, to sort of inform you, "Here's what the series is going to be about.

"Usually television shows maybe do that in the first couple episodes. We essentially took the whole season to do that, and now, going into season 2, you'll know - you'll know what relationship we're going to be focused on, and what ultimately the dynamic of the series moving forward will be. So that's where I want audiences to be by the end of the season."

He also spoke about the upcoming season 2.

"I think the first season, there's a lot of character development. To me, none of the thrilling elements work if you don't have a character that's fleshed out, that feels real, that you can relate to or empathize with or understand," Esmail told ET.

"So we're always doing both. But at the end of the day, what a good story is, for me, is really about a person and how they're growing and how they're evolving. The emotional journey is 100 percent the heartbeat of the show. And that's something that we'll never lose."
