Manny Pacquiao Not Ready To Retire; 'Pacman' Gets Floyd Mayweather's Seal Of Approval?

Despite Top Rank boss Bob Arum's statement that Manny Pacquiao will retire next year, the Filipino congressman quickly dismissed the suggestion.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Bob Arum was asked about the future of "Pacman" and he said that there's a big possibility that he will walk away before Floyd Mayweather.

"He's going to fight again next year, but his goal is to become a senator in the Philippines, which he will be next year, and then to be president," he said. "I think Manny will retire once he's elected to the senate of the Philippines which is next year. He's gonna hang up the gloves."

But Manny Pacquio said that Bob Arum couldn't be more wrong about him eyeing to retire.

"I know better what is happening to my body," the Filipino champ said. "Just leave it alone. Better not to react to that."

Manny Pacquiao sustained an injury to his rotator cuff, and immediately underwent surgery after his defeat from Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas earlier this year. Arum said there's no talks about the possibility of a rematch between the two, although he could likely arrange a fight with Amir Khan.

Amir Khan, of course, used to be under Freddie Roach's stable and was a training partner for Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather, meanwhile, is already mulling retirement after the fight with Andre Berto this Saturday as the undefeated pugilist is looking to tie the record of Rocky Marciano for 49 straight wins.

Speaking of Mayweather, he gave credit to Manny Pacquiao as the next in line to replace him as the world's greatest pound-for-pound when he retires the gloves.

"We don't know. We'll have to see. Probably Manny Pacquiao. We can't just take that away from him because he lost to me. I would say Manny Pacquiao," he said. "Manny's a hell of a fighter, one of the best fighters I've faced in my career."
