Ohio Church Shooting: Easter Service Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Suspect Shouted, “This Is The Will Of Allah”

An Ohio church shooting was reported by the Associated Press that left one man dead. Police in northeast Ohio are investigating an event that happened after an Easter service, a parishioner said that one at least one person has died at the shooting.

Most recent reports said that according to police, the victim’s name is Richard Riddle – he was leaving the church when a man shot him in the head and was killed.

One member of the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ said that Riddle was shot right after the church’s Easter service, a little after noon, around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Joan Crockett said the man knew the shooter, giving hints that this could be premeditated.

Erie TV news report that the police brought Riddle’s son – Rashad Riddle into custody. No confirmation from authorities has been made if the younger Riddle is the suspect in the case.

Hiawatha Church Administrator Sean Adams described how the suspect came into the church. “The shooter came in our sanctuary, holding his gun up in the air saying ‘This is the will of Allah.”

Cleveland’s Plain Dealer Newspaper reported that the church’s pastor said church members were exiting the premise when they heard a gunshot.

“People pushed me back into the office and said, ‘Somebody’s here with a gun,” shared Rev. David Howard Jr. “The guy was outside hollering and acting crazy.”

No other injuries were reported.

Howard said that the church has 175 members. He said people at the church are uncertain of what led up to the shooting.

“It’s such a tragic loss,” said Crockett.
