The residual storms brought about by Hurricane Linda drenched Los Angeles in the heaviest September rain in more than 30 years.

According to the Washington Post, 1.79 inches of rain had fallen at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), through 10 a.m. local time.

The previous record rainfall for September 15 at LAX was just 0.01 inches in 1982. The monthly average rainfall is just 0.24 inches.

The previous wettest day of 2015 was a meager 0.69 inches from January 10.

A flood advisory spanned all of Los Angeles County.

"The rain will cause ponding of water on area roadways through the morning commute with local flooding of low lying areas and intersections," the National Weather Service in Oxnard, Calif. warned. "Heavy downpours may cause minor mud and debris in and around recent burn areas."

While the unexpected rainfall has caused water rescues, floods, and power outages across Southern California, the average Angeleno is dealing with an unfamiliar feeling: getting wet.

Joe Hartman, a 57-year-old from Ohio, told the Los Angeles Times that he is glad he decided not to drive through the train - as soon as there's a drizzle, Angelenos forget how to drive, he said.

"I thought El Niño was supposed to come in the winter!" He said.
