Ben Affleck And Henry Cavill's Characters In 'Batman V Superman' Are Poles Apart? Director Shares Details

After rumors have surfaced about the screen time of Henry Cavill being cut in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," director Zack Snyder has hinted that the reports might have some truth to them.

In an interview for The Daily Beast, he said that context is everything.

"Only in that because it's a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do-and you just had a whole Superman movie," he said.

"But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that's more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on."

Umberto Gonzalees of Heroic Hollywood previously clamed that it's not Zack Snyder's decision as executives reportedly demanded that there would be more Ben Affleck on screen as opposed to Henry Cavill on "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

"The latest hot rumor I am hearing is that Warners is requesting more Batman be put into the movie and less Superman. Supposedly, Ben Affleck's Batman is so good that he is blowing Henry Cavill's Superman right off the screen," he wrote.

The journalist added, "Like it or not, Batman has become the crown jewel of the DC Universe. Look at what is going in the video-game space with the Arkham series, or the fast-tracked Batman Lego movie spin off."

But according to Zack Snyder's interview, it shouldn't even be about Batman vs. Superman, or Ben Affleck vs. Henry Cavill, it's about DC vs. Marvel. And putting the Dark Knight in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will open the floodgates to set up a DC universe.

"I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they're Batman and Superman," he added. "They're not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man-not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?"
