Rafael Nadal News Involves Fernando Verdasco Olympics Double, Death In Family Post US Open 2015

Rafael Nadal has plenty of news despite the fact that he has not been performing very well. After dropping out of the US Open 2015, the former world number 1 is turning to Olympics, possibly to snatch the gold medal with his compatriot, Fernando Verdasco.

According to NCB Sports, “Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco have discussed playing doubles for Spain at the Rio Olympics and will do so if all goes well over the next 10 months, Verdasco said, according to Marca.”

They would certainly have to contend with Olympics tennis favorite, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka.

Other than this sports related news, Rafael Nadal has been grieving due to a death in the family.

According to AP, “Mallorca's regional government says the grandfather of Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has died. He was 85.”

Seeing how his girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello has been by his side for decades now, she will probably help him through all the important times in his life.

In other news, Rafael Nadal fulfilled the prophecy that Andy Roddick doled out to BBC right before the US Open 2015. The American tennis player commented that Nadal "probably won't win another slam" in his career.

Maybe this is why he is choosing to focus on Olympics with Fernando Verdasco. He probably will have much better chance in winning something in a double.

At the same time, despite his failing career, Rafael Nadal has been insisting that “life has been fantastic”.

According to the Guardian, the former world number 1 said, “Today I am not as good as I was. I don’t know if tomorrow I am going to be as good as I was. Life has been fantastic for me – and it still is.”

Condolences to the Nadal family as they go through these hard times.
