YG Entertainment Replies To Rumors About Newly Signed Rapper One Joining iKON

Now that former 1PUNCH member and Show Me the Money 4 contestant One has joined YG Entertainment, rumors of his debut are running rampant.

On September 23, word that One would be joining as a new member if iKON spread around the internet. However, YG Entertainment was quick to dispel the rumors. "Rumors that One will be joining iKON are unfounded," a representative of YG Entertainment revealed to Star News.

"iKON has already begun their debut project and filmed their music videos with seven members," the representative continued. "Since iKON's members were chosen through fierce survival competitions, adding another member would make it more difficult for the current members."

The majority of iKON was featured as Team B in YG Entertainment's Who Is Next: WIN competition program. As the losing team, they were then sent on to compete in another reality competition program titled MIX&MATCH. Though One is no stranger to competition programs, having competed on Show Me the Money 4, YG Entertainment insists that he will not be joining iKON.

Korean netizens were quick to agree with YG Entertainment. "That sounds wrong," one user commented, translated by Netizenbuzz.

"As if that would ever make sense," another agreed.

Many Korean fans are also in agreement that iKON would not benefit from the additional member.

One was formerly part of the duo 1PUNCH who debuted earlier this year. After competing on Show Me the Money 4 he earned YG Entertainment's interest and transferred his contract to the label earlier this week. It has been reported that he is getting along well with the rest of YG Family and is working hard towards his debut. Details of his debut, however, have yet to be revealed.
