Chinese Media Outlet Yibada Speculates Chen Will Be The Next Member To Leave EXO

Amidst the recent lawsuits between SM Entertainment and former EXO members Kris (Wu Yi Fan), Luhan (Lu Han), and Tao (Huang Zitao), more departure rumors have appeared.

On September 25, global Chinese news site Yibada announced speculations that EXO's Chen (Kim Jong Dae) will be the next member to leave the group. "It is said that [Chen] plans on going solo and will terminate his contract after gaining a lot of achievements," Yibada quoted from Movie News Guide.

Chen recently appeared on MBC's mystery singing talent show King of Masked Singer, wowing judges and audiences alike with his solo singing abilities. After his elimination, the singer revealed his desire to be seen not just as a member of EXO but a singer in his own right. Yibada suggests this statement might mean that Chen wishes to follow a career beyond that of a boy band member and will attempt to leave the group.

Chen also made waves with his solo soundtrack song for the popular drama It's Okay, It's love, proving his vocal prowess early on. He is also busy with preparations for his appearance in the musical In The Heights.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment is currently carrying out lawsuits against former members Kris, Luhan, and Tao for illegally pursuing Chinese promotions while still under exclusive contract with the South Korean record label. On the other side, Kris, Luhan, and Tao have all sued the company for contract termination.

At the same time, EXO (Chen included) is preparing for their Japanese debut. The group will release a Japanese single along with carrying out a Tokyo Dome Tour. The group will also be the first to perform in Korea's first-ever dome venue.

No statements or confirmation of Chen leaving EXO have been made by any party.
