Vin Diesel Paul Walker News: Rob Cohen Tapped For ‘Furious 8’? Director Honored For Brotherhood

Vin Diesel sent fans wondering if Rob Cohen will come back and  helm "Furious 8." In a post on social media, he honored that director for the brotherhood he formed with Paul Walker as well as the rest of the film's family.

Over at Instagram, Diesel posted a picture of Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and Walker along with Cohen during the premiere of "The Fast and The Furious" along with a heartfelt message for the director.

"The man that introduced me to my producing partner Neal and who cast Jordana as my eternal sister," he wrote. "The one who allowed for such a powerful and blessed love with Michelle... And like a father, had created the brotherhood that would define a millennium. Rob Cohen... I hear you, Pablo."

On Facebook, he simply posted a picture of him and Walker with Cohen. "Furious" co-star Tyrese Gibson agreed with the tribute that they all owe it to Cohen for forming the brotherhood that has turned into their family.

"The foundation of a global #Family was built from the moment Rob Cohen introduced Paul to Vin," Gibson commented. "I've heard the stories of the exchange in great detail from all 3 of them. Clearly they were genius enough to know something long before most of ever realized it."

It was not clear why Vin Diesel suddenly thanked Rob Cohen for the brotherhood he formed with Paul Walker and the rest of the cast. But one of his followers  -- Carlos Santiago -- wondered if the post meant Diesel was tapping Cohen to become the director of "Furious 8."

The original "The Fast and The Furious" cast has been vocal in the past months that they were keen on preserving Walker's influence on the upcoming film.

"Paul used to say that ['Fast & Furious'] 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your'e brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," Diesel told MTV back in April. "'Furious 7′ was for Paul; 8 is from Paul.'"

Rodriguez also told People recently that it has been Walker's dream to bring the upcoming movie "back down to the core" of racing.

"He was always complaining about the special effects and the blue screens," she added.

Rob Cohen directed the "The Fast and The Furious," which launched the series that many have come to love and formed the brotherhood of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker as well as the rest of the team. In 2012, he expressed willingness to become its director again.

"I'd be happy to do it," he told We Got It Covered. "I mean, it is my baby. No matter what way they twist it, I am still the guy who did the first one and made it what it was."
