Cookie Monster Arrested For Endangering The Welfare Of A Child

A Cookie Monster impersonator was arrested for shoving a child after taking a photo with the 2-year-old. On Sunday Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez was walking around New York City's Times Square dressed as the beloved Sesame Street character Cookie Monster.

Quiroz-Lopez A.K.A Cookie Monster took a picture with the 2-year-old and then gestured to the child's mother for a tip. When the woman did not give Cookie Monster a tip he shoved the child to the ground.

The NYPD charged Quiroz-Lopez with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. This is not the first time the NYPD has arrested a character like Cookie Monster.

Times Square is a highly populated area and full of tourists. People dress up like cartoon and other characters and behave inappropriately around children and tourists. During the spring of 2012 a man dressed like Elmo a favorite friend of Cookie Monster went on rant about Hindus in front of the Times Square Toys R Us.

The Times Square Elmo was recorded saying things like, "Hindus rape children." The Elmo kept chanting that same statement over and over saying it was a "major issue."

Another Elmo was seen last June in Central Park going on anti-Semitic rants. The Central Park Elmo was heard saying, "If you start your own business in this city, Jews will harass you! Read 'The International Jew' by Henry Ford!"

A video of both Elmo characters ranting and raving about Jewish people and Hindus can be seen on YouTube. There is no word on when Cookie Monster will have to appear in court.
