Psy In 'Final Stage' Of New Album Preparations

Solo artist Psy is close to finishing his new album, and is possibly looking at making a comeback before the year ends, reveals YG Entertainment's founder and chief producer Yang Hyun Suk.

Speaking to reporters during the debut concert of iKON, the label's rookie boy group, the YG executive also revealed that Psy is under a lot of pressure to repeat the success of his global hit "Gangnam Style."

"He is in the final stage (of preparing for a new album), and he will be back this year," said Yang Hyun Suk, reports The Korea Herald.

"He feels incredibly burdened by 'Gangnam Style's success, but I think it's okay for him to not outdo ['Gangnam Style'] and not promote in the US. He's a good friend of mine on stage so I hope he continues doing music with a peace of mind," the YG executive added, reports Allkpop.

The comments from Yang Hyun Suk regarding Psy's comeback timeline mirror the recent official statement from YG Entertainment.

On September 17, a representative said that while there is no definite date yet for the release of Psy's new songs, "it'll be released within the calendar year."

Psy's upcoming full-length album is his first in three years since Psy 6 (Six Rules) Part 1 dropped in July 2012 and made him a world-known sensation through the infectious smash track "Gangnam Style."

Since "Gangnam Style," Psy has also released two singles, "Gentleman" and "Hangover."
