Girls' Generation's Taeyeon Is A Hit All On Her Own With Chart-Topping 'I' Debut

Girls' Generation member Kim Taeyeon proves she is perfectly capable of making an impact all on her own. The singer's first official solo single and album soared to the top of the real time music charts in Korean upon release.

On Oct. 7, SM Entertainment released Taeyeon's long-awaited music video for her official debut single 'I' through their official YouTube channel as well as her EP of the same name.

Featuring rapper Verbal Jint, the music video raked in more than a million views in less than 12 hours and the single rose to the top of eight major real time music charts in South Korea including Melon, Naver Music, Bugs, Genie, Mnet, Olleh Music, Soribada, and Monkey3.

Another song on the album, "U R," is currently ranked third on the Realtime iChart.

Taeyeon's EP "I" consists of six songs total - "I," "U R," "Gemini," "Stress," "Farewell," as well as an instrumental version of "I."  The album is also available for fans to listen to on Spotify.

In the music video for "I," Taeyeon is a waitress at a restaurant who ends up quitting her job and roaming the beautiful New Zealand countryside to embrace her newfound freedom.

In other news, Taeyeon has an upcoming solo concert series at the end of October and Girls' Generation's other soon-to-debut solo artist, Tiffany, is also gearing up for her solo debut album November.
