Profile Of A K-Pop Fan: Angel Phillips Of Philadelphia Owes Her Love Of FTISLAND To K-Dramas And Her Teenage Daughter
NAME: Angel Phillips
AGE: 41
HOME: Philadelphia, PA, USA
CURRENTLY: Working with young children.
INTRO TO K-POP: "Korean dramas and my teenage daughter got me into K-pop. I really liked so many of the songs played in dramas and started to ask my daughter, who was already heavily into K-pop, how to find these songs. She helped, and then I watched "You're Beautiful" and it was all over. I looked up the character Jeremy [Lee Hongki] and found the band that he is in [FTISLAND] and fell in love. It has been a wonderful downward spiral ever since."
THE DIFFERENCE: "The language, the Korean language is intricate and beautiful. It's the only music that I have found to be addictive. It was wonderful to hear music in a language that I could not understand but still spoke to me. It confirmed for me that music is truly universal."
DESCRIBING K-POP: "It's music that your body and soul can feel and relate to but your mind struggles with because it can not understand the lyrics."
FAVORITE GROUP: FTISLAND
WHY FTISLAND: "How do I find the words to explain why? FTISLAND are chameleons that can tackle most genres of music- ballads, rock, pop, and even rap."
FAVORITE SONG: "Last Love Song"
FAVORITE SOLO ARTIST: K.Will
WHY K.Will: "He is the first person I discovered through Korean dramas and his voice is like silk. So soft and sweet, but powerful in all the right places."
FAVORITE SONG: "Love Is A Punishment"
