Dark Horse Comics' 'Avatar' Is The New Partnership With James Cameron, More Of Pandora To Explore

Dark Horse Comics’ “Avatar” is going to expand James Cameron’s creation.

The movie “Avatar” was released almost a decade ago, but the epic scale of the film is still talked about up to the present time. There is even a sequel coming up and will be making its release on Dec. 25, 2017.

James Cameron made the announcement that Dark Horse Comics’ “Avatar” is a follow-up to the 2009 sci-fi film. The good news was made during the publisher’s morning panel at New York Comic Con with Cameron delivering the new via special video message.

The partnership with Dark Horse Comics is meant for fans of “Avatar” to get different perspectives of Pandora, learn new history and follow new storylines as well. The sequel films are also going to take a while, as they are currently still being worked on, so the comics are a good way for fans to get their fill while waiting.

On Hollywood Reporter, Dark Horse president Mike Richardson said, “James Cameron is one of the film industry’s greatest talents. His films, always on the cutting edge technologically, feature rich characters and amazing worlds, a fact reflected in Avatar’s status as the all time box-office champion.

“We couldn’t be more excited about working with James and his team at Lightstorm to expand the breathtaking world of Pandora."

Dark Horse Comics’ “Avatar” does not have a release date yet.

“Avatar” is set in the mid 22nd Century when humans go into space and colonize the moon Pandora. This lush habitable moon is the satellite of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system where the Na’vi tribes inhabit the land. The film follows Jake Sully as he becomes a genetically engineered Na’vi in order to interact with the Pandora natives.
