While Elena Gilbert fans were saddened over not seeing her as "The Vampire Diaries" returned on air last week, Nina Dobrev may have been on cloud nine. Several entertainment news items revealed her first movie since leaving the TV show, "Final Girls," has been getting great reviews.

In a review by The New York Times, "Final Girls" has been dubbed "an amusing movie." Los Angeles Times, meanwhile, said it had "surprisingly affecting punch" and was even "unexpectedly touching."

Even Stephen King raved about it to Dobrev's delight.

"The 'Final Girls' is really great, a sweet horror movie spoof that winds up feeling "Moonrise Kingdom,'" King posted as retweeted by Dobrev.

Despite the Nina Dobrev movie success news, some were still wondering if she'll grace "The Vampire Diaries" once again in the future. Fans of the show got into frenzy when Paul Wesley talked recently that the actress' character, Elena Gilbert, was still a big part of the TV show.

"Elena's still a very big part of the story," he told TV Insider. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up. We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!"

It was not clear if Wesley's statement meant Dobrev might be coming back for an appearance on "The Vampire Diaries" or an old footage will be used to show her as Elena Gilbert. The actress has made it clear in the past that her stint on the TV show was over.

"That chapter is closed, sadly - bittersweet," she told Entertainment Weekly last month.

For now, Nina Dobrev said she wanted to focus on making films despite news and rumors that she's desperate for a gig on "Empire" or "True Detective."

"I want to do film," she told Michael Peña for Interview Magazine. I want to do things where the talent range is difficult and that scare me. I thrive on that; if it's not scaring me then I'm not growing."
