Nathan Fillion was a guest on Jimmy Fallon's show where he talked about his character's split with Kate in "Castle" season 8.

Jimmy Fallon started by asking that "Castle" writers should be one of the most sadistic writers around for always putting Rick Castle and Kate Beckett in the wringer

"How do your fans react to it? They don't like it, right?" he asked.

To which "Castle" season 8 lead star Nathan Fillion replied, "They actually videotape themselves watching and put it on YouTube so you can actually go watch their reaction to the show. It's kind of cool."

But showrunner Terence Paul Winter teased spoilers to TVLine that Kate Beckett's split from Rick Castle will have a resolution in "Castle" season 8.

"We have a real plan for how to guide through this new path," he said. "And we really do believe it's going to be something that will be satisfying overall. If people give us a chance, they're going to really - hopefully - appreciate the journey we're going on.

Rick even recruited a specialist to help him get back Kate after the split.

The specialist, however, (of all people) deals with the sense of smell and apparently Kate still has the feelings for Rick because the specialist can smell it on her.

"Castle has been concerned for several episodes with reconciling with Beckett, his overworked and stressed out newlywed bride, who recently pulled the plug on their relationship," said Latin Post. "In a promo for the episode, the witness assures Castle his wife still has the hots for him; she can smell it."

Bad news for fans, as "Castle" season 8 will have a long Yuletide break.

"Unfortunately," Alexi Hawley told TVLine, "because of the way ABC is platforming us - we do eight episodes and end [Nov. 23], and we're not on again until the beginning of February - we won't be on the air for the holidays."

Apart from Nathan Fillion, "Castle" season 8 also stars Stana Katic, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, Susan Sullivan and Molly C. Quinn.
