K-Pop News Weekly Top 3: BTS Win MTV EMA, Big Bang's North American Tour, Yuri And Oh Seung Hwan Split

The South Korean entertainment industry is a nonstop world of new music and news, and this week was no different. The past week saw K-pop getting international recognition in Europe and Asia, and one of the top girl group members end her relationship.

Big Bang Completes North American Tour

The K-pop heavyweight act Big Bang made headlines in countless international outlets following a North American concert tour. The "Made" tour garnered attention from the New York Times, Billboard and Rolling Stone, among with many other outlets by the time Big Bang made their way through the United States and Canada, with stops in New Jersey, California, Nevada, Ontario, and more before heading to Australia.

While the members traveled throughout North America, they made sure to get in some sightseeing and uploaded the images to their official media accounts, expressing love for their fans and the places they were traveling in. Two of the members even spent time in New York getting tattoos from a world renowned tattoo artist despite their tightly packed schedule.

BTS Recognized As Best Korean Act

At the 2015 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs,) K-pop boy band BTS gained recognition as the Best Korean Act. The group beat out B1A4, GOT7, VIXX, and G-Friend for the award, and will advance to face-off against other international artists at the MTV EMAs in the Worldwide Act Asia category. If they win, BTS will compete for the title of Best Worldwide Act, potentially going up against popular acts like Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber.

Big Bang won the inaugural Best Worldwide Act in 2011, and no Korean act has won the award since then.

"Dating" Generation Ends For Girls' Generation's Yuri

Late last week, it was revealed that Girls' Generation's Yuri relationship with baseball player Oh Seung Hwan had come to an end six months after it first garnered attention. The end of the relationship was reportedly due to the pair's busy schedules and international activities.

Yuri is the fourth member of Girls' Generation to end her relationship in 2015.
