Contradicting 'Winds Of Winter' Release Date Leaves Fans Waiting As George R.R. Martin Assures New Endeavors Will Not Affect Writing

Reports of the "Winds of Winter" release date have been changing so much that they only built up the anticipation for the fans.

"Previous talk from A Song of Ice and Fire's publishers and George R. R. Martin himself hinted at a 2016 or 2017 release date for The Winds of Winter, a book that's been worked on longer than the Bible," reported the Independent. "But the latest nugget of information suggests early 2016 at the latest."

The article went on to cite the Polish website PIESN LODU I OGNIA which reported the interview with the publisher about the "Winds of Winter" release date.

"Michał Jakuszewski confirmed that he was asked by the Zysk publishing house to save his time by the end of the year for translating the Winds of Winter, and although the translator seemed to be a bit skeptical about this news, it is undoubtedly a glimmer of hope for many of us," the Independent quoted the site as saying.

George R. R. Martin himself had hoped to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date before the April airing of "Game of Thrones" season 6.

Alejo Cuervo, the editor of Ediciones Gigamesh (the Spanish publisher of George R. R. Martin), told Lossie Tereinos, per IBTimes, also hinted that the release date for "Winds of Winter" would be early 2016.

"The difference between the release dates of the Spanish version and the English version are not expected to be much, as the manuscript will be made available to the Spanish publishers well before the book is out in the market," the article said.

Of course, he said it could still change "should a meteor fall."

George R. R. Martin, meanwhile, said that even if he takes on new projects, the release date for "Winds of Winter" won't be affected.

The author has closed a deal with Cinemax, the sister company of HBO, for his novel "The Skin Trade" to be made for TV.

But the author assured that this won't impact on his latest book because he won't be penning the script for "The Skin Trade" because his priority is still the "Winds of Winter" release date.
