f(x)'s '4 Walls' Promotions Take A Bold Approach To Lineup Changes

f(x) make their return to the K-pop world this month, better than ever despite the loss of a member.

The SM Entertainment girl group f(x) will make their comeback on Oct. 27 with the album "4 Walls." This album will be the group's first album since the departure of former member Sulli (Choi Jin Ri), and the album appears to revel in the altered line-up rather than be concerned with the future.

The title track, "4 Walls," and the album itself, are direct nods to the girl group's rejuvenated image after a hiatus that ended with the departure of Sulli.

The album "4 Walls" is a nod to the members who have stayed with the group, and the cover of the album features four walls creating the number "4" with each wall representing a member of the f(x).

While other K-pop groups struggle under member line-up changes, f(x), like other SM Entertainment acts, seem undaunted by the lack of a former member. Instead, f(x)'s teaser images and promotions so far have shown a strong image as a four member group.

Along with the bold approach to f(x) becoming a quartet, SM Entertainment has gone above and beyond with the girl group's new album; a gallery in Seoul's Itaewon neighborhood began displaying a special exhibit "4 WALLS AN EXHIBIT" on Oct. 21, where the girl group will be featured through the release of the album.

SM Entertainment has a history of line-up changes in their K-pop group. SHINee, a five-member boy band, is the only group under the agency at the moment that has maintained their original line-up without any additions or departures.

f(x)'s transition from a K-pop quintet to a quartet has been with relative littel drama, following a lengthy hiatus from former member Sulli. Immediately following her departure, SM Entertainment announced f(x)'s upcoming fourth album, alluding to the stability of the group as a four-member act.

The title track "4 Walls" is an EDM style song with a dreamlike feel, a new style of music for a girl group that has made a name for themselves with unique takes on different genres of music.

f(x)'s album "4 Walls" will be released on Oct. 27.
