Nina Dobrev may have been missed by her fans when "The Vampire Diaries" came back on air for a news season. If the latest news and rumors were true though, her fans might not need to wait that long to see her on the TV series once again.

The rumors of the former Elena Gilbert actress' possible return swirled just after Paul Wesley admitted in one interview how important her character remains for the current season.

"Elena's still a very big part of the story," Paul Wesley pointed out to TV Insider. "Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up."

"We all had imagined this complete reboot where Elena was gone, but she's talked about so much!" the Stefan Salvatore actor added.

Even the other former Elena Gilbert actress' co-stars have teased months ago about her eventually coming back.

"She's still there, dude," Ian Somerhalder said in jest to MTV. "She's in a casket; she's having a nap."

"[Characters] die and come back," Paul Wesley joked as well.

Nina Dobrev herself though has recently reiterated in the latest news update to Entertainment Weekly that the chapter of her life on "The Vampire Diaries" was over.

"That chapter is closed, sadly -- bittersweet," the former Elena Gilbert actress insisted. 

Nevertheless, she remained supportive of her friends and will continue to tune in.

"I can't wait to see what the new season will look like," she said a few weeks ago. "I'll be watching. I'm very excited for my friends."

While the Elena Gilbert actress may indeed be returning to watching her former TV series from her couch, it also seemed that she's seemingly bent on crossing over to the big screen because she wanted to be challenged.

"I want to do something dark and gritty," she explained to WhoWhatWear. "I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the s--t out of me."

After "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev starred in the movie "The Final Girls." The latest news as told by Deadline even revealed that she scored a role for the movie "Arrivals," which will begin filming soon.
