NCIS Leaves Fans Guessing: Will Tony and Ziva Be Killed Off?

In last night's episode of the CBS action drama NCIS, the relationship fans have been dying to see may have ended before it began. While NCIS fan favorites Ziva and Tony were in Berlin tracking a killer, the pair shared a series of magical moments hinting they may be leading up to a possible relationship.

That is, of course, if the NCIS agents survive that car crash. While driving along a road, Tony and Ziva (played by Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly) were side swiped by an oncoming car just as Ziva and Tony were about to reach for each other's hands.

One of the more unforgettable moments of last night's NCIS came before the accident, when Tony and Ziva were dancing together. Staring deeply into each other's eyes, it seemed the sexual tension built up between these two characters was about to come to a head.

Ziva (Cote de Pablo) joined the cast of NCIS during the show's third season.  Ziva is an Israeli agent sent to stop NCIS from killing her brother Ari. Ziva's brother had just killed a member of the NCIS team and the agency was out for blood. In a strange twist of fate, Ziva ends up killing her own brother after learning a painful truth.

In the first scene between Ziva and Tony, the writers build up what would become a partnership full of sexual tension by having Ziva ask Tony if he was "having phone sex." Thus a relationship was born. For the next 8 seasons of NCIS, fans would wait on the edge of their seats to find out if Tony and Ziva will take their partnership to the next level.

Fans got a sneak preview of what a relationship between Tony and Ziva would be like when the NCIS partners went undercover as a married couple.

Last night's episode gave fans a little more than a taste of what is about to come. The status of Tony and Ziva is still unknown, but fans have to hope NCIS won't kill off two major characters.

In an interview with Inside TV, Cote de Pablo spoke about the shared moment between Tony and Ziva while they were dancing in last night's NCIS.

"We felt the moment was very intimate, and we thought that just looking at each other was enough. And the director kept saying, 'No, I want the moment to be longer,' and we had to sort of fight the director. Finally, I had to say, 'Listen, if there was any more time of staring into each other's eyes, it would be like, cut to a hotel room.'...so finding the length of the moment became a topic."

In her interview, Cote de Pablo told Inside TV that she and Weatherly enjoyed doing the scene together. She does not give a lot away concerning the future relationship status of NCIS's favorite partners, but she does describe how the characters relate to one another, calling it "intense."

"There is a level of vulnerability that's being shared and, from Tony's standpoint, you also see vulnerability. You also see him as a man Teddy Bear - like, a very sweet but manly man, a guy who's really taking care of a situation and really wants to make it better, a guy who's not looking for the joke or is uncomfortable staring at a woman or reaching out to hold her hand. To me, that's a really interesting thing."
