Disney Parks To Kick Off "Monstrous Summer" Season WIth Three Parks Open 24 Hours Starting May 24th [VIDEO]

Disney's three local parks will stay open for 24 hours to kick off the summer season leading into Memorial Day weekend, the company announced Thursday night.

Disneyland hosted a similar party last year for Leap Day, Feb. 29. But this year's party will extend to Disney California Adventure as well as Disneyland, starting at 6 a.m. May 24.

The 24-hour event, informally called an "All-Nighter" is the first event in "Monstrous Summer," the Disney Parks summer promotion inspired by Disney-Pixar's upcoming animated movie, "Monsters University."

The announcement came from Epcot center last night, where Epcot's iconic sphere became an 180-foot-tall animated Mike Wazowski, the one-eyed monster who will star in the prequel to "Monsters, Inc." alongside his blue-furred friend Sulley.

This summer, Disney Parks are bursting with a monstrous lineup of new thrills, shows and happenings," said Kalogridis. "Guests can start Memorial Day Weekend with a 24-hour-marathon of memory-making as three Parks stay open all day and all night to celebrate the bi-coastal kick-off of a Monstrous Summer at Disney Parks."

Guest will enjoy a "Monsters University" "TLT Monstrous" Dance Club, "Star Wars" characters in Tomorrowland, and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey's Toontown and late-night dance parties near Cinderella Castle with a live band and dancing till the wee hours.

Meanwhile, Disney California Adventure will offer photo ops in Hollywood Land that will show off "Monsters University" dorms and the Pixar Play Parade will showcase a new "Monsters University" float.

Sounds like a party to me!

"Monsters Inc" Mike Wazowski can explain to you in "monstrous" detail exactly how the festivities will play out.
