Wonder Girls Pregnancy Update: Sun Plans To Give Birth In Canada JYP Entertainment Rep Says

Pregnant Wonder Girls singer Sun plans to head to Canada to give birth to her child, a representative for JYP Entertainment told the website allkpop on Friday.

"Sun recently returned to Korea with her husband," the JYP rep said.

"She's currently enjoying a break and meeting up with friends. They plan to go back to Canada after two months, but the specific date hasn't been confirmed yet. There are no plans for her to appear on any broadcasts."

The label first revealed on Thursday that the 23-year-old Wonder Girls leader had returned to her native country on May 3, with husband James Park.

"Sun recently came back to Korea and she met with her family, including her grandmother, with her husband. She's enjoying herself by meeting her close friends."

Sun and Park were married in January.

According to the JYP Entertainment representative, the Wonder Girls singer has been making regular trips to the doctor while in South Korea.

"Sun is currently four months pregnant and is taking care of her health by regularly visiting the doctor's office with her husband," the rep said. "She will leave for Canada and will most likely give birth to her newborn there."

Sun, whose full name is Min Sun-ye, broke the news to her fans that she was pregnant through the website Twitter on April 4.

"I respect all the mothers in the world who have experienced the mysteries and marvels of life," she tweeted.

"We have been granted a honeymoon baby. I think it's a suitable time to deliver the news of our baby now that I'm into my third month. Please pray that our baby will be able to grow healthily in my belly!"

The following day, Sun's record label released a statement dismissing rumors that Sun would be withdrawing from Wonder Girls.

"Sun will continue to perform as Wonder Girls even after her pregnancy," the JYP statement read. "She has not withdrawn from the group but is rather taking a small break. Rumors of her leaving are not true. We truly want to congratulate her on the good news."

The last time the Wonder Girls performed before beginning their indefinite hiatus, was at the Feb. 5 closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

A representative for the group told Billboard Magazine back in April that Wonder Girls is "still together for the time being with no official decisions made about future performances."
