Coke Formula Claim: Georgia Man Selling Purported Coca-Cola Formula On E-Bay For $15 Million [Video]

Coca-Cola has always kept their secret formula locked up in a bank vault, but a Coke formula claim out of Georgia has one man selling the secret recipe for $15 million on auction site, E-Bay.

Cliff Kluge is an antiques dealer from Ringgold, Georgia in the state’s north half. He claims to have found the original Coke recipe in an old box of papers he purchased from an estate while doing his job. But the Coke formula claim is just that, and it’s unclear whether it’s the real, original recipe.

Kluge’s Coke formula claim came about after Kluge purchased some papers from an estate auction of an old Georgia chemist. The 1943 Coke formula claim by Kluge has been, predictably, denied by Coca-Cola.

For decades, the Coca-Cola company has claimed it’s formula is locked in a bank vault somewhere with only two employees having access to the full formula at any one time.

The company says the fizzy Coke formula claim by Kluge might come close to the original formula, but it’s still not the authentic recipe.

Kluge believes Coca-Cola sent the recipe ingredients to the chemist when they were having trouble finding all the necessary ingredients during WW II.

Said Kluge about his find: “You don't stumble on things like this very often. It's a letter, and a formula, and the processes to make it. I think it's a little deeper than having fun; I think it's the recipe for Coca-Cola.”

The very original 1886 Coca-Cola recipe put together by John S. Pemberton, has been speculated about endlessly, as many wonder what the mysterious formula actually contains, or whether it’s a myth perpetuated by Coca-Cola to sell soft drinks.

The Coca-Cola company claims it locks the original recipe in a vault at the World of Coca-Cola Museum in it’s Atlanta headquarters.

Coca-Cola company archivist and historian, Ted Ryan said: “What I can discern about the formula is that it’s a formula for a cola-type drink. I don't think it's coca-cola. It can't be coca-cola. This particular formula is one of dozens that have popped up over the years trying to emulate the flavor of Coca-Cola.”

Kluge doesn’t actually believe he’ll get millions after his coke formula claim, but he might get hundreds of thousands as dealers and interested traders try and find the mysterious coke formula recipe said to include, vanilla, lime juice, lemon oil, orange oil, cinnamon oil and nutmeg oil.
