19th Annual Dream Concert 2013 Recap

One of the biggest K-Pop idol shows of the year, the Dream Concert, was held this past Saturday at Seoul's World Cup Stadium.

The show was attended by thousands of fans and had an impressive lineup of some of the hottest artists in the Korean music industry.

This year's three hour long, star-studded event was led by emcees Goo Hara from the popular girl group KARA, Onew of idol group SHINee, and BEAST's own Yoon Du-jun. The stars led the audience through the performance schedule that saw nearly two dozen K-Pop acts take the stage.

The first performance of the night was from seven-member girl group Rainbow. The lovely ladies hit the stage in cute sailor uniforms to perform their first song, "Tell Me Tell Me," then went on to sing their hit song, "A," for the fans.

B1A4 had a powerful delivery of their songs "What's Happening" and "Baby Good Night" taking up the whole stage and encouraging the crowd to move too.

SuperStarK2 winner and R&B balladeer Huh Gak wowed fans with his latest song "1440" and even threw in a little dance number - a bit unusual for the singer, but a nice treat for the audience.

While the stage was being prepared and the next set of groups prepared themselves to perform, the emcees took the opportunity to engage in some small talk about overseas performances and fans. The three shared their appreciation for fans around the world and the opportunity to spread their music outside South Korea. Yoon Du-jun added that when fans show their support for B2ST it makes him feel patriotic and proud of what he does.

Girls' Day, BOYFRIEND, BtoB were the next idols to take the stage, exciting their screaming fans in the audience. U-KISS also performed and introduced the new songs from their recently formed sub-unit uBEAT.

As a special additional treat, Girl's Day joined four of the members of ZE:A on stage for a special performance of "Sorrow," a hit dance song from 1998 originally performed by co-ed K-Pop group Cool. While the majority of the Dream Concert audience was young, the teenagers seemed to enjoy the old tune and some even sang along.

Then to round out the first half of the epic Dream Concert was girl group KARA.

During the show's break, SHINee fans got pumped up for the second half by singing some of their favorite songs in the crowd. Soon after, the Korean DJ group Dreamscape to prepare the audience for the high-energy second half. They remixed songs from the entire line-up and the different fandoms cheered loudly when their favorite idol groups were featured.

ZE:A opened up the second half of the Dream Concert with "Aftermath" and the unit song "The Day We Broke Up."

The following three performers were some rising stars in the K-Pop industry, VIXX, EvoL, and SPEED. VIXX wowed the audience with their spooky vampire-inspired makeup and SPEED gave a thrilling show using special lighted gloves.

Slowing the pace down a bit, 2AM's Changmin and SISTAR's Hyolin sang a beautifully harmonized duet, "When I First Saw You."

When the T-ARA sub-unit T-ARA N4 hit the stage, the fans were less vocal than for the previous performances, the ladies heated things up regardless. 4Minute followed with another amazing show even without their member Hyuna who was hospitalized last week for dehydration and exhaustion.

SISTAR, BEAST, and SHINee were up next and really showed the crowd the power of K-Pop idol groups with their astonishing performances.

Rounding out the excitement for the evening was a medley of "The Boys" and "I Got a Boy" from ever-popular girl group Girls' Generation.

The Dream Concert finale brought all the artists back on stage one last time to sing legendary singer Cho Yong Pil's famous hit song "Let's Go on a Trip."

In the end, this year's Dream Concert was a huge success and the 50,000 fans lucky enough to have attended the idol-filled event left satisfied (and probably a bit hoarse).
