Aretha Franklin Guest Performer In American Idol Season 12 Finale: Sings Classic Hits With Top Five Female Finalist

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, 71, was a guest performer at the recently concluded American Idol Season 12 Finale. The 22 time, Grammy-award winner sang with the top five finalist which included some of her all-time hits including (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You) and Respect.

She came on live via a satellite link-up from New York after a humorous tribute for Randy Jackson. Aretha Franklin sent a message for Kree Harrison earlier in the season, but had a special one for Candice Glover for the finale. She said, "Candice, you're a winner. Win or lose, you're a winner. You and Kree both have promising careers."

In a playful banter, Ryan Seacrest asked Franklin, “You don’t have the results, do you?” She responded, “I do, but I won’t tell you.”

After that she sang the cross-continental medley of hits that has build her iconic stature in the industry with the excited female finalist who sang their heart out with the legend.

It was reported that the soul singer has pulled out two upcoming performances because of health issues. She canceled a May 20 concert with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a May 26 solo performance at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. R&B singer Janelle Monae will fill in for Franklin with the orchestra, according to the organization. In 2010, she was forced to cancel a concert tour to undergo surgery for an undisclosed health concern.

Aretha Franklin is still scheduled to perform at two concerts in Canada with another performance in Michigan this coming June.
