Denmark Winner at Eurovision 2013: UK Has To Wait Again

The legendary Bonnie Tyler, the representative of UK for the Eurovision 2013 Song Contest finished in 19th place. This means that after Eurovision 2013, UK has to wait for a few more years to carry their flag once again and compete for a win in this prestigious singing contest.

The popular singer did her best in Eurovision 2013 but she managed only to finish at the 19th spot from all the 26 countries that joined the contest, garnering a total of 23 points s. Bonnie Tyler had innumerable songs that became a huge hit during the 1980s, including Holding Out for a Hero and the song Total Eclipse of the Heart which is an all-time favorite until now.

Bonnie's performance during the EuroVision 2013 was accompanied by back-up vocalists and there were no dancers, trimming it down compared to the performances of the other participants.

Meanwhile, the Eurovision 2013 was a huge win for Denmark as its representative, Emmelie de Forest, snatched the first prize with her rendition of the song Only Teardrops. De Forest, a young 20-year old singer, sang and performed during the contest in barefoot. After winning the event, she told in an interview that she's the happiest girl in the world. She's also proud that she won in Sweden where the competition was held (specifically in Malmo Arena) because her father was Swedish national and a Eurovision fan as well.

The inspiring performance of de Forest actually became an early favorite by the bookies and when the scores are revealed, it showed that it topped the list with a smashing 281 points. Azerbaijan and Ukraine followed the top list.

Eurovision actually began during the 1950s as a way to help foster and promote a spirit of Unity after the World War II. 50 percent of the judging come from the professional judges while the other half can come from fans who can vote via telephone or SMS.
