'Prejudice? Sure There Is' Kpop Idols in Musicals Voice Their Thoughts

Idol artists who have been cast as musical performers voiced their opinions on the prejudiced eyes they will likely face in the audience.

On May 20, 'High School Musical' press conference was held in Gangnam, Seoul.

Out of nine big roles in the musical, six are held by idol artists. Asked about the prejudice that may be present, the idol artists responded, "We do not think there will be no prejudice against us."

The idol artists themselves realize the reality that the public presumes invisible advantage they may have had in the auditioning process that may not be fair.

"All the way from our trainee years, we got used to following the trend and making us fit into the mainstream. 'High School Musical' fits the current flow of things and I think that being idol artists plays into our hands in this case."

Kang Dong Ho, a veteran musical performer, stated "Every performer was auditioned and screened from the beginning. They earned their spots outright. They have worked extremely hard despite their busy schedules. I am confident any sort of prejudice will disappear once one watches their performance."

'High School Musical' was a widely popular American movie series that put Zack Efron and Vanessa Hudgens into stardom.

The musical will show from July 2 to September 1 in Blue Square Samsung Card Hall.  It will star big Kpop idol names such as FT Island Jaejin, Super Junior Ryeowook, f(x) Luna and AOA Choa.
