Hillary Clinton Leads 2016 Poll In Iowa; Would Win White House Over Rand Paul And Marco Rubio

Hillary Clinton leads a 2016 poll of potential presidential candidates in Iowa, one of the most crucial states in the race for the White House.

The Clinton topped 2016 poll adds fuel to the fire of rumors that the former Secretary of State and First Lady will run for president in three years.

According to a poll released by Quinnipiac University, in the state of Iowa, which holds one of the earliest primary elections, Clinton leads 2016 presidential hopefuls Senator Marco Rubio of Florida 48 percent to 37 percent, and would beat Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky by a slightly narrower 46 percent to 42 percent. Once considered a swing state, Iowa gone Democrat for the last two presidential elections, where the solid winner was Barack Obam.

The poll found that Clinton’s fellow Democrat and the current Vice President, Joe Biden, wouldn’t do so well against his main Republican rivals. Biden would be expected to lose to Rubio by one point and falls five percentage points behind Rand Paul. Political experts think that Biden would be a tough opponent against Hillary. Biden has eight years of experience in the White House and the Obama “get out the vote” team at his disposal.

According to the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute press release, written by Assistant Director Peter A. Brown: “The major difference between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joseph Biden is that she runs much better among independent voters, although Sen. Rand Paul runs better among that key group than either Democrat.”

Political experts have said that Hillary’s experience in the Senate and as the Secretary of State would help a presidential run since the end of the 2012 elections. The former first lady also has access to the massive fundraising machine built up by her husband, President Bill Clinton.

The former president said that Hillary Clinton has been putting her energy into her work at the Clinton Foundation and hasn’t focused on the upcoming election. She is also writing a book and “having a little fun being a private citizen for the first time in 20 years.”

Hillary would be a clear favorite for the 2016 election. An earlier Quinnipiac University poll found that she would defeat any challengers from the GOP, including New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is seen as a rising star in the Republican field.

Peter A. Brown said “Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton would start a 2016 presidential campaign with enormous advantages. She obviously is by far the best known, and her more than 20 years in the public spotlight allows her to create a very favorable impression on the American people.”
