Obama Forgets To Salute To Marine, Twittersphere Erupts In Anger

President Barack Obama apparently forgot to salute to the marine standing at the foot of the stairs to the Marine One aircraft. Twitter users were not happy.

The president was on his way to the U.S. Naval Academy graduation ceremony in Maryland, according to ABC, when he didn't return the salute of the marine as he boarded the helicopter.

Even though Obama seemed to remember his mistake - he soon turned back around, went down the stairs, and shook the hand of the marine, who smiled - the Twittersphere was unforgiving.

Twitter user @TheBigRuss77 said: "Obama fails to salute Marine. Obama has Marine hold umbrella. Obama let's Navy seals die in Benghazi. He is a terrible leader. #vet #impeach"

@HeyTammyBruce tweeted: "The jerk in the White House fails to salute the Marine while boarding Marine One http://bit.ly/12BOlH5 #compulsiontoconfess"

"Yeh whatever thanks 4 ur service. POTUS fails 2 return salute of Marine. Obama cameback 2 shake his hand. #Fail #tcot pic.twitter.com/4JKpgcPmWw," tweeted Twitter user @AHMalcolm.

A couple of weeks ago, another mishap occured that the public criticized. President Obama asked two Marines to hold umbrellas over his head while he gave a speech with Turkey's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, CNN reports.

Regulations forbid Marines to hold umbrellas while in uniform because it hinders their ability to salute. However, Obama is the commander-in-chief, and if he orders the Marines to hold umbrellas, they will hold them.

Twitter user @SimonMaloy coined this rare command by the president "umbrellagate."
