EXO's D.O., F.T. Island's Lee Honggi Shortlisted for the Cast of "Return: The Promise of the Day"
The well-received military musical, "Return: The Promise of the Day," is in talks to return to the stage and it was reported that they are currently considering a new season.
EXO's D.O. and F.T. Island's Lee Honggi have been shortlisted for the cast, under the theme of discovering the remains of the Korean War, which is dead set to meet with audiences this year.

According to a report on March 31, the musical has entered the planning stage once again. However, the timing of the opening of the play is still undecided and they are currently stepping up their efforts to finalize the casting lineup for this season.

The "Return: The Promise of the Day" is a musical piece that carried the mantra "I won't give up until the day I serve the last person." It is dedicated to the heroes of the motherland who have yet to return through a project to excavate the remains of 133,000 undetected soldiers left behind by the most poignant Korean War. It is also described as a creative musical that tells the story of people who had sacrificed their lives for their country during the Korean War, where the lead character spent his whole life wandering and looking for the remains of killed people.
The musical is supported by the Army Headquarters and produced by Insight Entertainment. Idols and actors who are in the military already starred in this musical.
In this said season that ran from October 22 to December 1 last year, the main character, named Kim Seungho, was played by Lee Jinki (SHINee's leader Onew) and Kim Minseok (EXO's Xiumin). Lee Haeil was played by actor Kim Minseok and Cha Hakyeon (VIXX's N) while Kim Hyunmin was played by 2AM's Jo Kwon and Go Eunsung, and of course, Choi Wooju was played by INFINITE's Kim Sungkyu and Yoon Jisung.

In particular, as it marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War this year, the audience's attitude toward "Return" is extraordinary.
In response, an official from the Army Musical mentioned that it was right to push through the musical. However, since the entire South Korea is still under recovery, they have also thought of determining whether it will proceed due to the aftermath of the spread of COVID-19. The timing to open the show is still unclear, too.
"We are selecting appropriate roles for celebrities who are serving in the military, people who want to appear, and actors who specialize in musicals. We will complete the lineup for all generals, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps," the official said, adding that although EXO's D.O. and Lee Honggi are expected to be on the list, no official roles have been stated yet.
Further, the decision will be made through an internal meeting, they said.
EXO's D.O. joined the military on July 1st and Lee Honggi on the 30th of September last year.
