PSY Impersonator Denis Carré Uses Cannes For 'Marketing' And Publicity, Hires Manager For TV/Nightclub Gigs

PSY may be globetrotting on his international smash hits "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman," but his impersonator, French business consultant Denis Carré, isn't doing too shabby either.

During a recent interview with GQ, Carré opened up about his now famous Cannes appearance as PSY, which he intended to be a "marketing/public relations trick."

"I've been on television several times in France already and also in Spain," said the 34-year-old South Korean mimic.

"So we were thinking, 'OK, where do we need to go to make a big buzz'? So the aim [with Cannes] was for people to discover who I am, as a lookalike."

Carré promised that despite the media painting him as someone who was simply there for the party and the booze, there was a strategy behind the entire ordeal.

"My manager and I have been working together a couple of months now, touring around nightclubs in France," expanded Carré.

"Then we hired a communications team to help us plan how we were going to do it. So we had some people situated in the business. That's how we got the pass into every A-list night at the Cannes festival."

So with PSY's success comes that of his lookalikes, apparently.

While the real rapper is heading to Germany in the midst of his promotional tour, Carré plans to release a single of his own very soon.

"I'm launching my first single by Wednesday this coming week, hopefully," he said.

"I've lined up seven interviews already with Korean TV. But the one thing I really want to say to the crowd out there is I really didn't do that to take advantage of anyone or to upset anyone. It was just a marketing shot, and I did it for entertaining people."

Carré has since appeared at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Two globetrotters, one PSY. Or is it two?
