These 10 Iconic K-Pop Songs Were Originally Made For Other Artists

If you're a K-pop fan, then you'll know the industry has produced numerous bangers that fans love. There is always a song that captures your heart and causes you to think that the track was perfect for the group. However, not all songs were made with that artist in mind. Here are ten iconic K-pop songs that were originally made for other artists.

1. EXO - "Artificial Love"

"Artificial Love" was originally meant to be for NCT, according to the producers. They said the song was made for NCT since they knew the group would debut with a "funky and electronic sound", meaning it was most likely for NCT U. At the time, however, EXO was preparing for a comeback. The song was pitched and changed to suit EXO's 2016 album, "Ex'Act."

2. Lee Hi - "Scarecrow"

Lee Hi's hit single was originally for Park Bom. The song was gifted to her by Park Jin-young (JYP) himself while she was preparing to debut as a soloist in 2007 under YG Entertainment. She recorded the song and shot the music video. However, she was added to the line-up for 2NE1, and the song was saved for later use.

3. I.O.I. - "Very Very Very"

"Very Very Very" is a song produced by Park Jin-young (JYP) and was originally made for his company's girl group, TWICE. However, the song was deemed to bubbly and cute and TWICE made a comeback with "TT" instead. The song ended up going to I.O.I and was the title track of their album, "miss me?"

4. BIGBANG - "LIES"

"LIES" was written by G-Dragon for himself when he would debut as a soloist. However, when then-CEO Yang Hyun-suk heard the song, he opted to let BIGBANG promote it instead. The song ended up being a huge hit for the group!

5. Girl's Day - "Something"

"Something" was originally meant for SISTAR Hyolyn's solo album, according to composing duo Double Sidekick. However, Hyolyn passed on the track and Double Sidekick pitched the song to Girls' Day.

6. Girls' Generation - "Into the New World"

Girls' Generation's iconic debut song was originally not meant for them! The song was originally for another SM Entertainment group, M.I.L.K during the mid-2000s. However, the group disbanded before they could even record the song. "Into the New World" was shelved for years until it was chosen as Girls' Generation's debut track.

7. AKMU - "RE-BYE"

"RE-BYE" was originally made for Lee Hi, according to Lee Chanhyuk, a member and producer for the sibling duo. Lee Hi, however, did not think the song suited her style. Lee Suhyun, the other half of the sibling duo, loved the song. Chanhyuk originally considered letting her have the song for a solo release, but instead added it to their album "Adolescence."

8. IZ*ONE - "La Vie en Rose"

IZ*ONE's hit debut single was originally meant for the Cube Entertainment girl group, CLC. The demo of the song has been leaked and the girls were even seen recording it on their reality show. During this time, the girls were posting photos of them holding roses to their official social media accounts. It was speculated it was to tease fans about the song which they never got to release as their own.

9. NCT Dream - "Chewing Gum"

NCT Dream's debut song "Chewing Gum" was originally made for the SM Entertainment girl group, Red Velvet! However, the company ultimately decided to postpone Red Velvet's comeback and give the song to the youngest NCT sub-unit.

10. EXO - "Lucky One"

EXO's disco-inspired track "Lucky One" as a follow-up single to "Monster". The producers of the song, LDN Noise, originally produced the song with SHINee in mind. However, after the people at SM Entertainment heard the song, they chose to add the song as a last-edition to their 2016 album "Ex'Act."
