Filipino KpopFans, listen up!

Minzy is gearing up for a solo debut in the Philippines!

On Thursday, Nov. 12, a local talent agency in the Philippines, Viva Entertainment, teased Filipino fans about a Korean idol who have recently joined the company.

Then, on Friday, Nov. 13, Viva Entertainment announced that former 2NE1 member Minzy had signed a deal with them on their official social media accounts. They uploaded a photo of the idol with the caption, "MABUHAY, Minzy! We are happy to announce that Korean star, Minzy, is the newest addition to our growing roster of talented artists! Welcome to VIVA, Minzy!"

The Philippine agency will team up with labels MZ Entertainment and Open Door Artist Management. MZ Entertainment is founded by Minzy herself and CEO Gong Sun Yong as a manager. On that same day, Viva also revealed that the K-pop idol would be releasing the Tagalog version of her latest track "Lovely" on digital streaming platforms on Friday, Nov. 20.

It was also reported that an online press conference would be held on a later date to welcome Minzy into the Viva Entertainment family officially. At the said event, the singer is expected to share her plans with regard to her solo career in the Philippines.

With her impressive skills and captivating stage presence, Minzy has earned a name for herself in the K-Pop industry. Often dubbed as the "Queen of Dance" or "Dancing Machine," the singer first became popular when she debuted in South Korea as a member of the legendary girl group 2NE1 under YG Entertainment, together with CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park, who also started her career in the Philippines.

In May 2009, 2NE1 release its debut single titled "Fire," with Minzy being the youngest member, or what they call in Korea, "maknae" of the girl group. 2NE1 immediately rose to fame in South Korea, Japan, and other countries around the world. The female group is even credited as one of the pioneers of K-Pop's popularity worldwide with succeeding hit songs throughout their seven years of being active in the industry.

2NE1 members went on hiatus in 2015, and the departure of Minzy followed in April 2016. As a result, Minzy could not take part in the group's last track titled "Goodbye," which was launched in January 2017.

After leaving YG Entertainment, Minzy signed a contract with Music Works, the subsidiary label of CJ E&M, in May 2016. Then, in 2017, the former 2NE1 member was one of the second season's cast members of the reality show "Sister's Slam Dunk." In April of that same year, the K-Pop idol made her solo debut with the extended play "Minzy Work 01. 'Uno.'" It is composed of six songs, namely "Ninano," which is the EP's title track, "Superwoman," "ING," "Flashlight," and the English rap version of "Ninano."

In April of this year, Minzy left Music Works, and last May, she released the single "Lovely," which is her first work as an independent artist. Then, in October, she established her own entertainment agency called MZ Entertainment.
