Korean singer and actor Park Jihoon has been selected as Makestar's "Best K-Pop Idol of 2020," and the global platform has a special gift for the artist.

Makestar is a global crowdfunding platform in Seoul, South Korea that offers projects and content in K-Pop, K-Drama, and K-Film. This year, it is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and to commemorate this, Makestar launched an event last November in which K-pop fans from around the world can take part. In particular, the platform gave fans the chance to vote for the "Best K-Pop Idol of 2020" and whoever wins will have a reward.

The voting period for the "Best K-Pop Idol of 2020" took place from Nov. 20 to Nov. 30, and the nominees were Park Jihoon. WOODZ (Cho Seungyoun), VICTON, A.C.E, (G)I-DLE, MAMAMOO, Lee Eun Sang, AB6IX, The Boyz, KARD, and much more. These candidates were the ones who hosted video call events on the crowdfunding platform. Park gained a total of 25,331 hearts (37/4%), beating WOODZ's 24,885 hearts (36.7%) and thus becoming Makestar's "Best K-Pop Idol of 2020." As a reward, the solo artist will have a Billboard Advert that will be shown on both sides of the electronic display of Parnas Media Tower at Samsung Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The advertising period runs from Dec. 15 to Dec. 21, for a total of seven days.

Regarding the event, Makestar said, "First of all, congratulations to Park Jihoon and MAY (Park Jihoon's fan club). Also, we deeply thank all of the K-Pop fans around the world for joining us in the first event."

As mentioned, "Best K-Pop Idol of 2020" is only the first part of celebrating Makestar's fifth anniversary. Hence, fans can expect more events to come in which they can give their favorite idols gifts. In particular, Makestar has revealed the second event and it will be rewarding 50 winners with a Makestar "K-Pop Lucky Box" worth 100,000 KRW. The box is said to contain a variety of albums, photo books, goods, and more. Fans can participate through Makestar's official website.

This year was a remarkable one for Makestar. First, the commemorative video call of K-Pop artists in their album release, which takes place on the global platform, has exceeded 100 times. And second, StarMakers who participate in Makestar's events now come from more than 200 countries.
