BTS, BLACKPINK, and TWICE Included in the Best 15 Singles from K-Pop Groups in 2020

Many have considered 2020 as one of the best years in the K-Pop industry. In fact, numerous South Korean artists and performers have dominated social media and music charts amid the threats brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, South China Morning Post listed down the top 15 best singles from K-pop groups in 2020. Topping the list is "Black Swan" by BTS, which is an emotional hip hop song that is a part of the "Map of the Soul: 7" album. Pdogg, Clyde Kelly, Vince Nantes, August Rigo, and RM wrote the lyrics of the song. The publication also shared that the track shows BTS members Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, RM, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jungkook at their best.

"Lovesick Girls" by BLACKPINK, also, made it to the list. The said song is, actually, the third track of Jennie, Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo's first studio album in the Korean language called "The Album." Several music lovers around the world fell for the electropop song, which deals with agony following a heartbreak. Jennie and Jisoo co-wrote the song with David Guetta, R. Tee, Leah Haywood, Brian Lee, Loren, Teddy, and 24.

The news outlet also named "I Can't Stop Me" by TWICE as one of the best singles from K-pop groups this year. The song is the carrier single of the group's fourth album, which was launched in line with their fifth-anniversary celebrations. J.Y. Park and Shim Eun Ji wrote the lyrics while A Wright, Michel Schulz, and Melanie Fontana contributed to the music.

Apink's "Dumduhdum," also, made it to the list. The track is the lead single of the girl group's "Look" album, which was released on April 13. Black Eyed Pilseung, who also wrote Apink's previous hit singles "Eung Eung" and "I'm So Sick" co-wrote the song with Jeon Gun. Other songs included in the album are "Yummy," "Be Myself," "Moment," "Overwrite," "Everybody Ready?" and "Love is Blind."

Moreover, "Kick It" by NCT 127 was also included in South China Morning Post's top 15 best single from K-pop groups in 2020 list. Danke, Rick Bridges, and Wutan wrote the song, which has "inspirational" lyrics and a "high-energy" beat. The track received positive feedback from fans and critics alike upon its release that it became the group's first entry to the Top 30 Gaon Digital Chart.

Coming next is "Mago" by GFriend, which is part of the group's third studio album in Korean-language titled "Walpurgis Night." Source Music launched the track, which was composed and produced by FRANTS, on Nov. 9, 2020. The song dominated and peaked at several music charts such as RIM at No. 18, RIAS at No. 18, Gaon at No. 42, Kpop Hot 100 at No. 35, and Billboard US World Digital Song Sales Chart at No. 16. It was even included in DAZED's 40 Best K-Pop Songs of 2020, Paper Magazine's 40 Best K-Pop Songs of 2020, and Billboard Magazine's 20 Best K-Pop Songs of 2020: Critic's Pick.

Other songs that made it to the list include "Can't You See Me?" by Tomorrow x Together, "Flowering" by Lucy, "La Di Da" by Everglow, "Left & Right" by Seventeen, "Oh My God" by (G)I-DLE, "One (Lucid Dream" by Golden Child, "Scandalous" by Keembo, "Star" by Loona and "Wannabe" by Itzy.
