What is the Genius Chart?

The Genius Chart is a ranking based on total page views and concurrent page views on a song. As Genius is known for song lyrics, the Genius chart shows the audience's interest in an artist's lyrics and the meaning behind the chart. The Chart is not influenced by sales, streams, or other chart positions.

(G)I-DLE Takes the Top Spot

(G)I-DLE was the most popular song on the platform for the first month of 2021 with their song "HWAA." The song was released on Jan. 11. According to leader Soyeon, "HWAA" tells the story of a break-up. She reveals she ponders if a break-up would leave a feeling of regret like the cold of winter. She chose to burn that feeling with "HWAA." The song makes use of double entendres with words such as "fire" and "flower."

"HWAA" toped the Genie and Bugs chart and peaked at number 16 on the Melon 24Hits Chart. The song topped the country's top daily songs charts, as well as the on the Melon Realtime charts. "HWAA" debuted at the top of the Gaon Download Chart and peaked at number four on the Gan Digital Chart. In the West, the song peaked at number 6 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart.

IU Ranks at Number Two

IU was the second most popular song on Genius Korea with "Celebrity." The song was released on Jan. 27. "Celebrity" talks about a wide array of topics, fame, insecurity, identity, loss, and the life of a celebrity. Despite the deep topics, the song is considered bright and cheerful, with Edam Entertainment saying it is a song that can energize those listening to it.

"Celebrity" debuted at number 1 on the Gaon Chart and the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. In Singapore, it peaked at number two. In the United States, "Celebrity" peaked at number 3 on the Billboard World Digital Songs Sales chart. On the Billboard Global 200, the song peaked at 78.

TREASURE Took Home the Third Place

TREASURE was the third most popular song on Genius Korea with "MY TREASURE." The song was released on Jan. 11, the same day (G)I-DLE released "HWAA." Lyrically, the song is meant to give people hope and happiness. "MY TREASURE" is a song filled with heart-warming comfort and support from the members, in which TREASURE sings about everyone being precious treasures that shine.

"MY TREASURE" is the title track of "The First Step: Treasure Effect." The album peaked at number 1 on the Gaon Chart. In Japan, the album peaked at number 6 on the Oricon Chart and number 7 on the Billboard Japan 200. "MY TREASURE" peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
