These 7 Idols Worked as Back-Up Dancers before Making Their Debut
There are many stars who show off their unique talents on stage, earning love and support from fans. They boast superior dance and singing skills and even manage to look gorgeous as they do so.
One of the reasons they are so professional on stage may be because they worked as back-up dancers prior to their debut. Here are seven idols who dreamed of their debut and worked as back-up dancers for senior artists.
1. TVXQ's Yunho
The first idol to be introduced is the legendary idol Yunho. Prior to his debut with TVXQ in 2003, Yunho worked as a back-up dancer. In 2001, he worked as a back-up dancer and featured as a rapper in Dana's debut song "Diamond," and had even toured with her. In 2002, Yunho worked as a back-up dancer for Shinhwa.
2. IZ*ONE's Lee Chaeyeon
Lee Chaeyeon, who is famous for her fluid yet sharp dance skills, always goes viral for her dance skills. She made her name known for appearing in "K-Pop Star 3" and the JYP Entertainment survival show "SIXTEEN." After leaving JYP Entertainment and signing with WM Entertainment, Lee Chaeyeon worked as a back-up dancer for Oh My Girl.
Some people speculate that the reason why Chaeyeon so easily shows off her charismatic stage presence and has such a professional attitude is that she worked as a back-up dancer before her debut with IZ*ONE.
3. Chungha
Chungha, who boasts an unrivaled dance line, also worked as a back-up dancer prior to her debut. Chungha was a back-up dancer for Ulala Session, and you can find videos of her performing as a back-up dancer on KBS2's "Immortal Song: Singing the Legend."
Following Chungha's debut, the idol appeared on "Immortal Song: Singing the Legend." During the interview, she said, "I am very thankful that I am able to debut as a solo singer after appearing on this broadcast as a back-up dancer."
4. 9Muses' Kyungri
9Muses' Kyungri revealed on MBC's "Radio Star" that she worked as a back-up dancer to gain experience. Kyungri was a back-up dancer for Chaeyeon's iconic song "Look Look Look," and has also worked alongside Park Mi Kyung and Kim Gun Mo.
Since then, Kyungri, who made her official debut as a member of 9Muses, is known for her charisma on stage, flaunting her sexy gestures and expressions, as well as her beautiful dance lines.
5. BTS's Jungkook and J-Hope
Members of mega-superstar boy group BTS, Jungkook and J-Hope, also have experienced working as back-up dancers. The two appeared in MBC's "Three Wheels" before their official debut and appeared as back-up dancers for Jo Kwon. There, the two boys drew attention for their overflowing talent.
Jungkook, who is praised for being a role model to numerous idols, was able to enhance his dance skills as a back-up dancer. Now, he is BTS's main vocalist and lead dancer. J-Hope, who has always been an amazing dancer, is BTS's main dancer.
6. Stray Kids' Lee Know
Stray Kids member Lee Know used to work as a back-up dancer for BTS. He was active as a back-up dancer for the group since 2016, with "FIRE" up until "Not Today" and "Spring Day" in 2016. After his debut, Lee Know appeared with Stray Kids on Mnet's "TMI News," where he revealed that despite BTS having around 80 to 90 back-up dancers, J-Hope recognized him and approached him.
