APRIL Naeun to Drop Out of 'Taxi Driver' Cast + Drama to Re-Film Scenes with New Actress

Following the many controversies surrounding APRIL Naeun, the female idol is once again removed from the content of a television show. In particular, the actress will no longer be starring in SBS's drama "Taxi Driver."

APRIL Naeun Confirmed to Leave "Taxi Driver" Cast + Drama Will Be Re-Filmed

On March 8, the production company, StudioS, announced through an official statement that the APRIL member will no longer play the role of the female lead in SBS's drama "Taxi Driver." The agency also said that they have already finished filming 60% of the program. However, all those will be re-filmed with a new actress replacing APRIL Naeun. No further details about the artist's replacement were mentioned.

SBS's "Taxi Driver" is about a mysterious taxi service called Rainbow Taxi that avenges the victims who failed to get justice from the law. The APRIL member was cast for the role of Go Eun, who is a hacker at Rainbow Taxi.

More Brands and Television Shows Previously Removed APRIL Naeun from their Content

Besides her acting projects, her activities as a K-pop idol and model were also affected by the bullying controversy involving former APRIL member Hyunjoo, plus her dating rumors with former A-JAX member Yoonyoung, and her alleged pre-debut rape joke.

Early this month, APRIL Naeun's parts on SBS's variety show "Delicious Rendezvous" were edited out. The revised version of the episode featuring her was broadcasted on March 4.

Various brands for which she models have taken down advertisements that feature her as well. Some of these brands are Dongsuh Foods, J.ESTINA, and Samjin Pharmaceutical. She is also the current model for Good Day soju, Youth soju, JinnyKim, and more.

Other than that, APRIL Naeun has lost more than 100,000 followers on Instagram because of the recent issues. As of March 8, the K-pop idol has 2.3 million followers compared to her 2.58 million initial followers. Her last Instagram update was on Feb. 26.

APRIL Naeun's Previous and Current Activities

Since the bullying controversy, dating rumors, and assumed inappropriate joke emerged, APRIL Naeun and her fellow members have remained quiet. But before the female idol was involved in all of these controversies, she has successfully fulfilled her duties as one of the hosts on SBS's "Inkigayo," along with MONSTA X's Minhyuk and NCT's Jaehyun.

Naeun and the two male idols bid their farewell to the show as MCs on Feb. 28, which is on the very day that a netizen accused girl group APRIL of bullying its former member Hyunjoo. She also became the model for W Korea magazine's March 2021 issue. At present, she is one of the hosts of Naver NOW's in-app radio show called "Avengirls". In particular, she is the Friday night MC.

When it comes to her singing activities, APRIL Naeun released two songs last year. The first one is titled "Matter of Time" featuring her bandmate Jinsol. This single is part of the girl group's April 2020 album "De Capo." She also sang an original soundtrack for "Bunny & The Boys" with Eric Nam, titled "Attraction."
