BTS Grabs Two Awards at the 2021 GAFFA-Prisen

The world-famous K-pop boy group BTS has been winning international awards since last year and the awards are still coming in, they have won awards from Japan, France, Europe, the United States, among other countries. And this month, the septet has once again taken home not only one but two awards at the 2021 GAFFA-Prisen.

GAFFA-Prisen (or GAFFA Awards) is a prestigious annual ceremony in Denmark created in 1991 to recognize artists and their musical achievements. Categories include Album of the Year, Singer of the Year, Foreign Album of the Year, and Foreign Singer of the Year. Since 2010, GAFFA's Swedish readers are given the chance to vote for and celebrate their favorite artists through GAFFA Priset.

GAFFA is actually a free music magazine published in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It is the oldest and largest music magazine in Denmark. It has hundreds of thousands of print readers and online readers each month.

BTS Takes Home Two Awards at the 2021 GAFFA-Prisen

On Feb. 15, the nominees for the 2021 GAFFA Awards were revealed and one of them is the South Korean boy band BTS. The group is one of the artists nominated in the foreign categories, with the others being The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift.

BTS is nominated in the International Band of the Year, alongside AC/DC, Gorillaz, Green Day, and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. The boy group's album "Map of the Soul: 7" was also nominated in the International Album of the Year, together with Ariana Grande's "Positions," Dua Lipa's "Future Nostalgia," Taylor Swift's "folklore," and The Weeknd's "After Hours."

On March 17 (local time), Einar H. Jensen, the Ambassador of Denmark congratulated BTS on winning two awards at the reputable GAFFA-Prisen. So, this means the K-pop boy group successfully won in the two categories they were included as nominees - International Band of the Year and International Album of the Year. These are the first two Danish awards attained by BTS and among the many international milestones that the K-pop boy group earned this year.

 

Other 2021 Achievements of BTS

On March 18, BTS received three certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for "Dynamite." As of today, the track has been certified gold, platinum, and double platinum all at the same time. "Dynamite" is now the boy group's first song ever to be certified double platinum in the United States, as well as their fourth track to earn this feat following "MIC Drop," "Boy With Luv," and "IDOL."

This month, RM, Jungkook, V, Jimin, Suga, Jin, and J-Hope also achieved a new Guinness World Record with their hit song "Dynamite." On March 16, Guinness World Records announced that the "Dynamite" music video now has the "most simultaneous viewers for a music video on YouTube Premieres," after it garnered more than three million viewers during the premiere.

Moreover, BTS has become the first K-pop group to perform at the GRAMMY Awards. And although they failed to take home the award for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, the members said that they were still honored to be part of the prestigious event.
