Why is BLACKPINK Rosé Gaining Attention in Vietnam?

On Sunday, Apr. 4, BLACKPINK member Rosé released the music video for "Gone," a b-sidetrack from her debut single album, "-R-." Eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted that Rosé is wearing an exquisite rainbow-colored high-low dress in one of the scenes. The dress is adorned with a long train, decorated with layers of colorful feathers.

The garment was designed by the famous Vietnamese designer Nguyễn Công Trí from Cong Tri Design. The dress was first featured in the designer's "2020 SS (Spring-Summer) Collection" and was presented at New York Fashion Week in Sept. 2019.

This is not the first time Rosé was seen wearing a dress from the Vietnamese designer. Previously, when YG Entertainment dropped the music video for Rosé's solo debut title track, "On The Ground," fans discovered that the white bodysuit and beautiful, long cape she wore was also designed by Nguyễn Công Trí from Cong Tri Design.

Nguyễn Công Trí was born in 1978 in Danang, Vietnam, and currently resides in Saigon, Nguyễn Công Trí is a famous Vietnamese designer who is known for having dressed several powerhouse celebrities, including Rihana, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé.

Seeing Rosé in clothes designed by an esteemed Vietnamese designer has given fans a sense of connection with the idol. Fans are glad to see the idol rocking Vietnamese fashion and hope to see her in more works by both Nguyễn Công Trí and other Vietnamese designers.

BLACKPINK Rosé's Recent Activities

On Mar. 12, Rosé made her debut as a soloist with the single album "-R-." Prior to the album's release, it was reported that "-R-" surpassed 400,000 pre-orders within the first four days, making "-R-" the best-selling single album by a Korean female soloist.

By Mar. 15, the single album surpassed half a million pre-orders. From the 500,000 pre-orders, 400,000 came from CDs, 48,000 came from the kit, and 52,000 came from vinyl sales.

Less than a week after "-R-," it was reported that the single album broke the record of first-week sales among female soloists, selling 280,000 copies on its first physical release date.

The album was extremely successful in China, where it sold 1,000,000 digital downloads in just two days. "-R-" peaked at the top of China's major music sites, QQ Music, Kugou Music, and Kuwo Music.

"-R-" set the record for the highest first-week sales by a Korean female solo artist.
