BLACKPINK Beats Nicki Minaj on Spotify + 'Lovesick Girls' Breaks 400 Million Views Mark on YouTube

BLACKPINK just achieved another victory on Spotify. On Tuesday, April 20, it was reported that the South Korean all-female band is now the 11th most followed female artist on Spotify after the group surpassed Nicki Minaj's total number of followers on the said online streaming platform.

BLACKPINK Surpasses Nicki Minaj on Spotify

The YG Entertainment-formed group just made another feat after it became the 11th female act with the most follower on Spotify. BLACKPINK was able to beat Nicki Minaj this time and they are just a few thousands away from making it to the Top 10.

As of this writing, Ariana Grande remains the most followed female artist on the famous online music streaming platform. Rihanna secured the second spot, followed by Billie Eilish on the third rank. American pop superstars Taylor Swift and Beyoncè nabbed the fourth and fifth places, respectively.

British singer-songwriter Adele got the sixth spot while Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa and Shakira were listed on the seventh, eighth and ninth spots, respectively. BLACKPINK needs to beat Camila Cabello, who currently holds the tenth spot, so they could officially become part of the Top 10 list.

Not only that because BLACKPINK has also earned more than 700 million streams on Spotify in 2021 alone. This triumph just made them the most streamed female group this year so far. The number is expected to increase in the coming days as more and more people continue to listen and tune in to the music of Lisa, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo.

Among the most popular tracks of BLACKPINK on Spotify are "How You Like That," with more than 415,733,414 streams; "Lovesick Girls," with 207,559,800 streams; "Pretty Savage," with 140,359,036 streams; "Kill This Love," with 444,803,696 streams; and "As If It's Your Last" with 283,059,847 total number of streams. "BOOMBAYAH," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kiss and Make Up," "Ice Cream" and "Playing with Fire" have also been getting decent number of streams this year so far.

BLACKPINK's 'Lovesick Girls' MV Hits 400 Million Views

Meanwhile, the official music video of "Lovesick Girls" by BLACKPINK just hit a new mark. As of Monday, April 19, the clip has already amassed more than 400 million views on YouTube. It also garnered more than 12 million likes and more than 1.9 million comments as of this writing.

Most, if not all, fans know that the music video of BLACKPINK's chart-topping hit was released on October 2, 2020, at 1 p.m. KST. In other words, it took the clip approximately six months, 16 days and 23 hours before it was able to reach such a milestone.

"Lovesick Girls" is the ninth music video of BLACKPINK to reach 400 million views. Other clips that broke the said mark include "Ice Cream," "How You Like That," "As If It's Your Last," "BOOMBAYAH," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kill This Love," "Playing With Fire" and "Whistle."

As of late, BLACKPINK already has a total of 60.2 million subscribers on YouTube. The all-female K-pop group is said to be the second most followed music artist on the popular video sharing website, next to Justin Bieber, who currently has 62.6 million subscribers.
