MAMAMOO Wheein's "water color" is the Most Popular Song of April 2021

Sitting on top of Genius Korea's Genius Korean K-Pop Chart is MAMAMOO member Wheein's solo song "water color." "water color" was released on Apr. 13, 2021, and serves as the title track for Wheein's debut mini-album, "Redd."

"water color" peaked at number 70 on the Gaon Digital Chart. In the United States, the song peaked at number 15 on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart.

"Redd" peaked at number seven on the Gaon Albums Chart. According to the MAMAMOO member, the meaning of her album "Redd" is to tidy up and to get rid of meaning, "to get out the false tastes and paint honest colors."

"water color" marks Wheein's first solo release in over a year since "Goodbye" in Sept. 2019.

STAYC's "ASAP" is the Most Popular Girl Group Song of April 2021

Taking the second-place spot is STAYC with their Apr. 8, 2021 release, "ASAP." "ASAP" peaked at number 88 on the Gaon Digital Chart and at number 30 on the K-pop Hot 100. The album "ASAP" comes from "STAYDOM," debuted at number 9 on the Gaon Album Chart, making it STAYC's highest debut on the chart and their second consecutive top-ten release.

"ASAP" is much more low-key than STAYC's previous release with "SO BAD." The song is described as laid-back and is a mix between cutesy bubblegum pop and a sensual summer banger. It is characterized by its unique 8-bit inspired ringtone melody. Overall, "ASAP" and the other songs from the album are considered more mellow and stripped-down compared to their debut release.
